

A graveside service is to be held on November 27, 2015 at 11:30am at National Memorial Park to see the rejoining of earthly remains of Pe-Liu Chen and his beloved 54-year wife Li-Jui (nee Li), beloved and adored parents of daughter Winnie (Victor Chieh) Chen, daughter Ching Yu (Che Him) Leung, and son Kwong Yu Chan (Kee Poon); loving and doting grandparents of Fanny (Tony) Cheung, Molly Chen (Yik-Loon Lee), Eugene (Carol) Leung, and Sze Ngai Chan (Lingko Hanatsuka); and also beloved great grandparents of Erin Cheung, Olivia Cheung, Micah Lee, Justin Lee, Morgan Lee, Nanami Hanatsuka, and Hailey Leung. Mr. Pe-Liu Chen was born a Fujian native in China in 1913 and died in 1992 at the age of 79 in Hong Kong. He was enrolled in Yenching University of Peking in 1932 and graduated in 1938 from the Southwest Associated University in wartime China and had studied Economics in Tokyo's University of Law and Political Science from 1935 to 1937. He later worked at various jobs as news editor, bank officers, etc. He worked at Kincheng Banking Corporation, first at Shanghai and then at Hong Kong Branch, for almost half a century and, after retiring from the General Manager's position of the Bank at Hong Kong, still served as a consultant and also as a board director of Bank of China, Hong Kong Branch. Li-Jui, his wife, was born in 1916 in China's Anhui Province. She became a Yenching University student in 1934 and was transferred to Tsinghua University two years later. After the death of her devoted husband, she came to live in America with their eldest daughter Winnie and was naturalized into a US citizen in 1999. Mrs. Chen was a resident at HWFH at Reston, VA for 17 years before she moved to Shenzhen, after a stroke, to live with the son. She passed away on October 27, 2014 peacefully at the age of 98 at Shenzhen's OCC Hospital. Loving memories of Mr. and Mrs. Chen will always be cherished by their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
