

Raquel Gomez, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on March 9, 2024 at the age of 70 in her hometown of Falls Church, Virginia. Raquel was born on September 8, 1953 in Guatemala City, Guatemala to Gabino Jimenez and Otilia Alvarez. She was a loving wife to Manuel de Jesus Gomez, a devoted mother to Claudia Elizabeth Gomez, and beloved stepmother to Hilda, Manuel, and Cristina. She was also a cherished grandmother to Manuel Alejandro Henriquez, Elijah Joél Houser, and Gabriel Noah Houser, plus many bonus grandchildren. Raquel is preceded in death by her parents, Gabino and Otilia, and three brothers Ruben, Carlos, and Francisco, and half siblings, Juanita, and Arturo. She is survived by her half-sister Clara Luz Espino Jimenez..
Raquel Gomez was a kind and generous woman who always put others before herself. She was always there for her family and friends, and she was always willing to lend a helping hand. She was a great listener and a wise counselor. She was also a lot of fun to be around. She had a great sense of humor and she loved to laugh.
Raquel Gomez loved cooking, gardening, and listening to Spanish Christian music. Raquel was a strong and faithful disciple of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Her life in Christ included membership and service in the following churches: Capilla Latina (now called Nuestra Señora de las Americas) of Washington, DC; Santuario del Sagrado Corazón of Washington, DC; St. Charles Borromeo of Arlington, VA; Iglesia de San Jose of Arlington, VA; and Iglesia Camino de Fé, of Fairfax, VA, where she was a member at the time of her passing. She was also a longtime member of the women’s group MÍA (Mujeres International de Acción)
Raquel will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was a truly special person and we are so grateful for the time we had with her.

A visitation for Raquel will be held Saturday, March 16, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at National Funeral Home, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042. A funeral service will occur Sunday, March 17, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042. A committal service will occur Sunday, March 17, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at National Memorial Park, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042
