Dear Lynne and Cote d'Or family, it was with great sadness that we learned yesterday of Raymond's passing when we went to the restaurant. Our hearts go out to you all.  We have loved celebrating family occasions at Cote d'Or over the years and talking with Raymond as he moved among tables was always a highlight.  I will never forget the night a few years ago when Raymond served dinner through a power outage - he was a consummate professional and a warm, friendly proprietor.  He will be greatly missed.

Dear Lynne, Peter and I just learned of Raymond's death. We are so sorry. We remember him from those wonderful days at La Brasserie--and later those wonderful peach dinners at La Cote d'Or. He made our birthdays and anniversaries so special. We will miss him. Again, our condolences to you and your family.

Our hearts are broken.  We only learn of Raymond's passing yesterday (6/13).  We of course were shocked.  We love you guys and our prayers and hearts are with all of you. Dear Lynne,  I just learned of Raymond's passing.  So stunned...I am grieving for you and your family.  I will miss his gracious spirit and good humor he shared whenever I stopped in.  He always remembered exactly how I liked the mussels, and gave the kitchen special instructions for me!  Raymond made La Cote D'or such a special restaurant, and I will miss chatting with him. Lynne, we were deeply saddened to hear from Brigitte the news of Raymond's death. Our hearts go out to you, Vanessa, Mathieu, Marc and the entire family. Raymond, like you, was someone who brought much joy into people's lives, as a friend and as a restaurateur. No one enjoyed those Saturday morning on the Poplar Heights deck more than Raymond did. Jerry and I are so, so sorry about Raymond's passing.  His generous happy spirit was evident from the moment we walked into La Cote D'Or each and every time.  I always loved hearing his laugh...which we could hear even from the kitchen.  All of our loved ones who have passed before him just got a "heaven upgrade" with Raymond's arrival.  We miss you, Raymond...but we can still hear your wonderful laugh.

What sad news.  We have such wonderful memories of Raymond and Lynne and La Cote D'Or.  My mother celebrated her 90th birthday there on La Cote D'Or's first anniversary, way back when, and Raymond treated her like a queen, as he always did.  My husband and I were married there, and we have a lovely video of Raymond singing "La Vie En Rose" for us.  Our most sincere condolences to all the Campet family.

I am so sorry to learn of Raymond's passing. La Cote D'Or was my Mon's favorite restaurant and we had many family dinners there -- usually for a special occasion but sometimes when we just wanted to feel taken care of by Raymond's gracious hospitality. My parents also celebrated their 50th weeding anniversary with a party there, and Raymond and his team helped make it wonderful.  I'm grateful for the comfort and happy times Raymond helped create and send my sincere condolences to his family and community.

Our happiest memory of Raymond was when he serenaded us at our 25th wedding anniversary party a couple years ago.  We will truly miss him. Only a few weeks ago, my daughters and granddaughter and I spoke with Mr. Campet at his restaurant.  He was charming and engaging, and with a smile spoke a little French to us. I had told him we were headed to Paris in June. He kindly tolerated our stumbling replies, then gave us a list of places to go and see while in France. A true gentleman. Denny and I are so very sorry to learn the sad news about Raymond.  As I said in a recent note to friends, we feel such a tremendous lossnot because Denny and I saw Raymond often but because we saw him so infrequently and yet it always seemed like it had just been yesterday. 

He touched so many lives in such a  positive way.  We were blessed to have him as a friend.

Lion Raymond was a great asset to the Falls Church Lions Club.  He hosted the club for our dinners and special occasions for many years.  He always supported our fund raising activities. I am so shocked and saddened to hear of Raymond's passing.  He had a big heart and a big smile.  He gave so much to the Falls Church community and the Lion's Club.  I will always remember at the Lion's Club meetings when after announcing the menu he would say, " If you don't like what we are having there is a wonderful French restaurant next door!"

Raymond was a treasure in our little neighborhood of Falls Church Park.  We will feel his absence profoundly but we will also cherish the many joyful moments and warm memories he leaves behind.

Lynne;, I cried hearing the news about Raymond. He and Cote D'or have been part of Tom's and my 12 years together - from special occasions to our frequent Weds night dinners we always felt special & honored when Raymond could and did take time to chat about the restaurant and life in general.
