Raymond Estephan, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and quiet pillar of strength to many, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on December 18, 1945, in Lebanon, to parents Selim and Nahdieh, where he spent his early years before beginning a journey that would take him across continents and shape the life he built for his family.
As a young man, Raymond moved to France to pursue his education, demonstrating the determination and curiosity that would guide him throughout his life. He later immigrated to Washington, D.C., where he joined his aunt Selma, uncle Izzat, and cousins and continued his studies at George Washington University. It was there that he began building the foundation for a life dedicated to hard work, perseverance, and family.
On February 23, 1979, Raymond married the love of his life, Hilda Zakhem. Together they built a life rooted in devotion, partnership, and unwavering support for one another. Their marriage was a testament to commitment and quiet strength.
Raymond spent much of his professional life working as an IT contractor for the Department of Defense, contributing his expertise with diligence and integrity. Though he was a man of few words, his actions spoke volumes. Those who knew him understood that behind his reserved nature was a deeply caring man who offered guidance, stability, and wisdom to many who looked to him as a father figure.
Above all, Raymond’s greatest pride was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Hilda; his daughter Natasha and her husband Vincent; his daughter Ramona and her husband Maury; and his son Raif and his wife Kira. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Mila, Liam, Zuri, and Lennox, who brought immense joy to his life.
Raymond also shared a lifelong bond with his extended family. He is survived by his brothers Joseph, Najib, and Tony; his sisters Aida and Marcelle; and his beloved aunt Juliette, all of whom reside in Australia. Despite the distance, the connection between them remained strong, rooted in shared history, family traditions, and enduring love.
Raymond will be remembered for his quiet generosity, steadfast presence, and the deep love he had for his family. His legacy lives on through the lives he shaped, the family he cherished, and the example he set of humility, dedication, and strength.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
