A proud veteran, Bob passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at the age of 90.
He served his country honorably for four years in the United States Navy. Following his military service, he built a life centered around his family and his love for the outdoors, and he was especially fond of spending time on the water in his boat creating cherished memories.
For many years, he made his home in Dale City, Virginia. After retiring from over 39 years in the Federal Government and following his beloved wife's passing from cancer, he later relocated to North Carolina to live next door to his son Rick's family, where he enjoyed being close to his loved ones in his later years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, a son, a daughter, and a grandson.
Bob is survived by his son Richard "Rick" Kidwell and his spouse Wendie; his son Robert M. Kidwell; as well as many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry on his memory.

Visitation will be held at National Funeral Home, Chapel, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042, US, on August 16, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by the Funeral Service at National Funeral Home, Chapel, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042, US, on August 16, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
A Committal Service will take place at National Memorial Park, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042, US, on August 16, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.
