

Robert (Bob) Monroe Southworth, age 81, unexpectedly passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at his home in Hertford, NC. Bob is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Suzann Scheid Southworth. He is survived by his son Kevin Southworth and his daughter, Kathleen Southworth Stauder as well as his six grandchildren: Isabelle Southworth, Henry Southworth, Emily Stauder, Maddie Stauder, Anne Ruth Southworth and Jack Stauder. As well as his sisters, Shirley Stacy and Barbara Atkinson and many nieces and nephews.
He was born March 18, 1943, in Woodbridge, Va, to Raymond and Kathleen (Carter) Southworth. Bob was a 1961 graduate of Gar-field Senior High School, a 1965 graduate of the Virginia Military Institute and earned a master’s degree from UNC Chapel Hill. Bob proudly served in the United States Army and then worked at the Environmental Protection Agency in Washington, D.C. as an environmental engineer.
Bob was a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed fishing, yard work, reading, crossword puzzles and volunteering for many different organizations. He was an active member in his community both in North Carolina and in Warrenton, Va where he spent 20 years with his wife, Suzann.
Funeral services will be held at Murphy’s Funeral Home, 1102 W. Broad Street, Falls Church, VA. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 13th from 3:00 to 6:00. A service will be held at Murphy’s Funeral Home on December 14th at 11:00. The burial will follow at 1:00 at Columbia Gardens Cemetery, 3411 Arlington Blvd, Arlington, Va.
