Roland J. Deneault

Lieutenant Colonel, United States Air Force (Ret.)

A longtime resident of Falls Church, VA, passed peacefully at home at the age of 95 on Thursday, May 12, 2016. Beloved husband of the late Rita Claire Deneault for 68 years, loving father of five children, and grandfather of nine.

R.J. was born April 9, 1921. He joined the U.S. Army Air Corps at 17 years old and proudly served our country for 30 years, receiving many honors along the way. He felt extremely blessed to have completed 25 air combat missions as a B-17 navigator during WWII’s allied European bombing campaign. His service to our country continued through the Korean and Cold Wars and came to acompletion when he retired from the Pentagon as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1967. During a 66 year residency in Falls Church he was a very active member of St. James Catholic Church.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at St. James Catholic Church, 905 Park Ave, Falls Church, VA. R.J. and Rita will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
