Murphy Funeral Homes

Rosemary Walsh, 66, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2024 at her home in McLean, Virginia. Born on August 1, 1957 and raised in Manhasset, New York, she had been a resident of Northern Virginia for three decades prior to her death. Preceded in death by her parents, Matthew and Catharine Walsh, and her sister, Kate Walsh O’Beirne (James), she is survived by her sisters, Mary Ann Walsh Rowan (Robert) and Virginia Walsh Rowell (Scott), her former spouse, Joseph Findaro, and her four adult sons: Joseph Osborn, Patrick Findaro (Emilie), Mark Findaro (Ana), and John (“Jack”) Findaro (Andrea), her four grandchildren ([P/E] Olivia and Axel, and [M/A] Nicolas and Maria) with another granddaughter due in June 2024 [J/A], eight adult nieces and nephews, and sixteen grandnieces and -nephews. Educated at St. Mary’s Parochial and High Schools in Manhasset, Rosemary was also a 1979 graduate of St. John’s University in New York where she participated on the university’s fencing and sailing teams while earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in American Studies. Rosemary was tireless and passionate in her job at the Fairfax County Board of Elections where she was admired and loved for her dedication, work ethic, spirit and humor. Earlier in her career she worked in fashion and retail. Rosemary’s life overflowed with the love of God, family, and country, and she had a remarkable ability to perceive goodness, truth and beauty in the world around her and to radiate those values in the subtlest of ways to those she loved. Whenever she shared from those innumerable treasures that fascinated her: flowers, recipes, books, art and museums, she was the very essence of a cultural whisper from a bygone era. She cherished the art of unhurried living, shying away from the clamor of technology, embracing instead a mindful approach to every task. In Rosemary’s deliberate and contemplative manner, she wove moments of serene beauty into the tapestry of the world around her, leaving to all a legacy of grace and tranquility. As her Irish forbears of generations past would say of her in Gaelic, “Ni bheidh a leithead aris ann,” (You will not see the like of her again!”) Wake: Thursday, June 6, 2020 (3:00-5:00PM and 6:00-8:00PM) at the Murphy Funeral Home, 1102 West Broad Street, Falls Church, VA 22046.
