Sathyna Ell died peacefully in Arlington, VA on Saturday July 25th 6:21 PM at the age of 56.

Sathyna is survived by his Wife, Touch Chea Ell; and children, Jennifer & Jason Ell

Sathyna was born on October 16th, 1965 in Phnom Penn, Cambodia. He immigrated to America as a refugee at the young age of 14 due to the Khmer Rouge War. He graduated from Wakefield High School, afterwards he married Touch Chea Ell, his high school sweetheart. Sathyna Ell began working for the Patented Trademark Office for 15 years and Information International Associates for 5+ years . Over 30 years, the couple welcomed 2 children into their home; Jennifer and Jason Ell. He set about teaching them the meaning of kindness, hard-work and family values. His children remember their Dad as dedicated and extremely hardworking. He was a father who encouraged them to pursue their goals. He was a generous individual who loved his family. He was passionate about bettering the lives of Cambodian children through education. It is his hope that the Cambodian children are able to receive educational opportunities that were taken away from him during the be Khmer Rouge war. He will be dearly missed, but is very much loved by his entire family, friends and co-workers.

In lieu of funeral donations we ask that people donate money towards to "Dong Elementary School" located in Takeo, Cambodia (his wife's home village). Sathyna Ell always believed in the power of education. Unfortunately, because of the be Khmer Rouge war; he was never able to receive a proper elementary school education. Decades later, during his visits back to Cambodia his mission was to ensure the young children at Dong Elementary School had educational opportunities he missed. All proceeds will go towards food, school supplies, etc... This is a charity close to his heart and something he would like to continue beyond the grave.

Donations will be accepted in person via cash or check (written out to the Ell Family). Donations via credit card, Venmo or Paypal can also be made online or text "SathynaEll" (202) 858-1233

Dearest Touch, Jennifer & Jason,
I am so sorry for your loss. There are no words to share with you that will heal your heart.

Life isn't fair....... my brother Sathyna were suffered twice. I can't believe he is gone, I don't know if I will never believe it.

I'm great full for our times together, our last meal (lunch). He was enjoying the hamburger, ketchup all over his mouth.........

Please know that everyone who loves you and cares for you are thinking and praying for you. We don't want you to be sad, but instead to remember happier more joyful times. I know that will take time. Time only you can determine.

Much love from all my heart.

Your sister-in-law/aunt

Sathyna and I both started working at USPTO in 1995, but I didn't meet him until 1998 when I made a career change and started working in IT support. He was instantly welcoming when I met him and I admired his calm demeanor even under stressful situations. Although he was a quiet person in general who focused intently on his work, he had an amazing ability to slip in a perfectly timed joke to cheer up his colleagues when they were under pressure. Even after our respective departures from the APR Team, he would still check in with me from time to time to catch up. His genuine kindness was readily apparent to everyone who was fortunate enough to work with him, and he will be sorely missed at this agency, into which he poured over a quarter of a century of hard work supporting. Rest in peace, old friend. Rest in peace, Sathyna.

Sathyna was one of my mentors when first I arrived at PTO in 1996, and we continue to be friends up until now. We would exchange ideas and solutions when it came to solving problems, and express our frustration with politics. I will miss his calming demeanor and seeing him doing his daily laps around the concord. Rest in peace, my friend.

Sathyna was truly one of a kind. I knew him for a very short time (couple years) working with him but it seemed longer. He was calm but always had a good quick message for me. The last time I spoke to him, he gave me some heavenly advise “continue being who you are Olivia, it will take you far.”. That message came after I had to share my frustrations about an incident with him but yet I felt it had a much great meaning!

What always would put a smile on his face was my joyful request for some saltenas!

One last time “Sathyna, got Saltenas??!!

Sathyna, what a great pleasure to have known you and may your soul rest is peace! -your colleague, Olivia

I worked with Sathyna for a number of years on a project at the Patent and Trademark Office, which ended last year and I'm mad with myself for not staying in better touch with him at the office to see how he was doing. I just found out from a co-worker of his passing. Sathyna was a wonderfully kind and helpful colleague and I just want to express my sincere condolences to his family. My Prayers of healing and strength go out to you during this difficult time.
