Sedonia Lillian Brown

It is with great sadness that the daughters of Sedonia Lillian Brown announce her passing after a lengthy illness, on Friday, January 17, 2020, at the age of 75 years. Sedonia will be lovingly forever remembered by her daughters and sons-in-law Taunya (Robert) Henderson, Thaddea (Matthew) Barrett, granddaughters Alexis and Alana Henderson, Aunt and Uncle Juanita (Joseph) Martin, numerous cousins, extended family and friends.
Sedonia was born in Washington, D.C. to Dorothy J. Rich (née Johnson) and Reese James, Jr on Thursday, January 27, 1944. As a child she lived abroad in Germany, spoke fluent German, and played the piano from the age of 4. She attended Olivet College. She obtained a Bachelor’s degree in German and a Master’s degree in Secondary Education, from Michigan State University.
She worked as a teacher, counselor and administrator at several school districts in Michigan including; Lansing Public School District, East Lansing Public School District and Owosso Public School District. She had a passion for mentoring family, friends and people in the community. She became a certified diver and enjoyed traveling to the Bahamas every year with her family and friends.
A Prayer Service will be held on Friday, January 24, at 11 am, at National Funeral Home, 7482 Lee Hwy, Falls Church, Virginia 22042 with Reverend Ellihue Henderson, Jr. presiding and eulogized by Reverend Gary Johnson.
She will be laid to rest at National Memorial Park immediately following the service at the same address.
