Obituary of Sherman L. Naidorf
Sherman Lee Naidorf, 81, of Annandale, VA, passed away January 22, 2013. He was the beloved husband of Marjorie A. Naidorf; loving father of Dr. Tobin Naidorf and his wife, Dr. Joan Naidorf, Robert Naidorf and his wife, Charlene Naidorg; proud grandfather of Benjamin, Leah and Adam. Mr. Naidorf was born April 14, 1931 in St. Joseph, MO, a son of the late Benjamin Naidorf and the late Ida Skolnik Naidorf. A 1948 graduate of Central High School, 1952 graduate of University of Missouri with a BS in Business and Public Administration, Did graduate work in computer science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1954 and at the University of Chicago, Federal Executive Institute-Charlottesville, VA (Charter Member of Senior Executive Service (SES)). He is a U.S. Navy Veteran serving from 1953-1954. Mr. Naidorf was a retired Associate Deputy Assistant Secretary for Telecommunications with the Department of Veterans Affairs, retiring in June 1993. He was appointed to GSA to chair Technical Panel Service Selection Evaluation for the FTS 200 system (1988), Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) 1975 (Director, office of ADP Operations), Burroughs Corporation (Now UNISYS) (Manager of Federal Systems in Washington, D.C.), Electrodata Corporation-Systems Design, IBN 1954- Participated in design of IBM 702 Computer, Navy 1952-1954 National Security Agency (NSA) computer technology, College 1950-1954 taught punch card technology at Stephens College-Columbia, Missouri. Other honors include Numerous SESW, GSA, Interagency and VA Awards -Department of Veterans Affairs Meritorious Service Award, June 1993 for meritorious contributions to the Department, Federal Government and the Nation. -Key to the city of St. Joseph, MO. Sherman Naidorf, Director of ADP Office September 11, 1977 from Mayor W. JK. Bennett. -Award for Significant Contribution to the evaluation of proposals for the FTS 2000 System. -Executive Performance Award for Senior Executive Service. Washington Area Group Memberships and volunteer work: -Beth El Hebrew Congregation 1954 to present. -Senior Executive Service-Charter Member-Past Board of Directors -Federal Executive Institute Alumni Association (FEIAA)-Past Board of Directors -The Public Manager-Past Member. -Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association-Past Member. -Zeta Beta Tau Fraternity A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 am. Friday, January 25, 2013 at Beth El Hebrew Congregation by Rabbi Brett Isserow with interment to follow at 12:30 pm at King David Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Beth El Hebrew Congregation, Arnold G. Fink Learning Center and Library or to the Parkinsons Disease Foundation www.pdf.org
