Shirley W. Hartwell

Sunday, October 6, 2013 Shirley W. Hartwell, residing in Spotsylvania, VA passed. Shirley was born April 4, 1922. She was raised in Falls Church, VA; Shirley was a long time resident of Fairfax City, VA. She retired from the Fairfax City Government in 1985 and moved to Fluvanna, VA. She recently moved to Spotsylvania to be closer to her family. Throughout her lifetime, family always came first. She leaves a lasting legacy of love, strength and generosity.

Shirley is survived by her husband of 68 years Dewitt "Dee" T. Hartwell, Sr., her son Skip Hartwell, his wife "Phyllis", her daughter, Pamela Hartwell Hudgins, her husband "Tom", her five grandchildren: Julie Hartwell Grable, Jenny Hartwell Esparza, Emily Hudgins Hall, Kerry Hudgins, Jay Hudgins and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Sherman and Ruth Wells and her four brothers, Claude, Stanley, Harry and Glenn Wells.

A memorial service and reception will be held Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Palmyra United Methodist Church, 258 Palmyra Way, Palmyra, VA 22963. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at 11:00 AM at National Memorial Park in Falls Church, VA.
