Stanley Adam Burger

Stanley ("Stan," "Stash") Adam Burger, 89, of Fairfax, Virginia, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on 21 July, 2026. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many, and his presence will be deeply missed.

Stanley was born in Plainfield, New Jersey, on 28 January 1937 to Adam Burger and Agnes Prucnol. He graduated from North Plainfield High School in 1955 and enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served as a load master and chief controller of maintenance until 1959. In 1960, he joined the Federal Electric Corporation and served in numerous capacities--including property control supervisor--until 1969. After working as a property management specialist at McGauhy, Marshall and McMillian between 1969 and 1971, he moved with his wife, Dorothy Elizabeth Ruggieri, to northern Virginia to begin a 28-year long career at the United States Department of Labor. He retired in 1999 as chief of the Administrative Services Division. He loved his career at the Department of Labor, where he made numerous lifelong friendships.

Stanley was an avid traveler and doting grandfather. One of his greatest joys was helping raise his grandchildren, Ethan, Josephine, Dominic, Isaac, and Winston, who lovingly referred to him as "Ahah." He will be remembered for his generosity, wit, kindness, irrepressible spirit, and love of teaching his grandchildren how to play ball, garden, read, and solve puzzles. We will forever cherish fond thoughts of him, including his enthusiasm to plan yearly family vacations and bringing everyone together to celebrate birthdays, no matter how busy life became.

Stanley was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy, and brother, Ronald Burger. He is survived by his son, Michael; sister, Barbara Haines; sister-in-law Joanne Burger; nephews James (Michelle) Lynch and Jeffrey (Alice) Lynch and their families; nieces Nanette (Christopher) Cody and Jennifer (Matthew) Cohn and their families; his loved ones, Sandra Lobo, and her children, Cheryl, Natalie, Diana, and Robert, and their spouses William, Khanh, Gregory, and Maeve.

Memorial services will be held on Sunday, 26 July, at National Funeral Home & Memorial Park, in Falls Church, Virginia, between 4 and 7pm. A Catholic Mass will be held at Saint Philip Catholic Church in Falls Church on Monday, 27 July, at 10am. A burial will follow at noon on 27 July at National Funeral Home & Memorial Park.
