Steven Heller

Steven was born in Brooklyn, NY at Maimonides Hospital to Ruth and Irving Heller on July 14, 1951. Steven married the love of his life Barbara on April 21,1990 in St. Petersburg, FL on North Reddington Beach. Steven attended Brooklyn College for his undergraduate studies, and completed his law degree at William & Mary Law School in Williamsburg, VA.

Steven worked as a lawyer for the National Transportation Safety Bureau for over 30 years. With his attention to detail and dedication to his craft, he built a distinguished and highly successful career.

Known by many as the “Mayor of 314,” Steven had an unparalleled love for the Nationals. Being a season ticket holder since 2005, his life revolved around his love for the game, and the family that he gained at Nat’s Park through the years. Long before receiving the reputable title of the “Mayor of 314,” Steven loved sharing his passion for sports with his son, Tony. No hockey game or baseball game would go by without Steven cheering him on, and of course providing valuable coaching advice and pointers.

Steven is preceded in death by his wife Barbara and loving parents, Ruth and Irving Heller.

Steven is survived by his son Anthony M. LaScola and his wife Maura of Pembroke, NH.

The family of Steven wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Jeanny B Aragon-Ching MD of the Fairfax Inova Schar Cancer Institute, David and the team from Heartland Hospice, Alma and the entire staff at Vienna Manor, Rabbi Chessy Deitsch, and Chaplain Greg. A special thank you to Frank Gambino and the Nationals Organization for honoring Steven and his Section 314 family through this difficult time. We would also like to recognize the community, friends, and neighbors who offered their support, love, and compassion to Steven throughout his treatments.

Celebration of life and visitation will be held on Thursday, June 25th at 11:00 am at National Memorial Funeral Home. Burial services will follow at National Memorial Park at 1:00 pm. Arrangements entrusted to National Funeral Home.
