Susan Marie McKinney

Susan Marie McKinney, age 58, beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, passed away at home September 20th 2017 in Cantonment, Florida. Survived by daughters Natalie McKinney-Roy (Mo) of Arlington, VA, Nicole McKinney of Cantonment, Fl., grandson Broxton (son of Nicole), son Jason McKinney of Centreville, VA., and parents Lt Col. USAF Ret. Joseph R. and Edwina C. Rogowski of Gainesville, VA, brothers, Gary Rogowski (Susie) of Great Falls, VA., Rick Rogowski (Cheryl) of Joliet, IL. and sister, Diane Hobbs (Chris) of Fairfax, VA, and nephew John Rogowski of Great Falls, VA.

Born into a military family, Susan started her life in Wichita Kansas where she only lived for a short time before they relocated to Fort Walton Beach Florida, and later Northern Virginia. Susan was the third of four children. Her father, a Veteran of the Vietnam War was a pilot in the U.S. Air Force. Susan got married in 1982, and had 3 children: Natalie in July 1982, Nicole in October 1984 and Jason in August 1988. Susan was a very devoted stay-at-home mother. Later in life, Susan became a successful professional in the work force. She was an independent woman who contributed where ever she could to her children and family. Susan became a Grandmother in October 2014. She enjoyed painting, hiking, American history, music and spending time with loved ones.

Susan was always very friendly and easy to talk to, even if you didn't know her. She always found the good in people and made people feel special. She wasn't judgmental and was always able to empathize with other people's situations. The wonderful qualities Susan possessed are rare in today's world. She will be dearly missed and will always be remembered.

Friends, family, and others whose lives Susan touched are invited to National Memorial Park, 7482 Lee Hwy, Falls Church, VA 22042 on November 11th, 2017 at 12:30pm for funeral services.
