Obituary of Terry C. Hillerich
Terry Coleman Hillerich passed away Saturday, January 24, 2015. Terry was born in Washington, DC on December 23, 1949. He attended Washington Lee High School and graduated from Bridgewater College with a Bachelor of Arts in physical education. He is survived by his devoted wife of 37 years, Judy; his loving children, Tre (35), Diana (34), Brian (32), and Chris (30); and his grandchildren, Taylor (13), Emma (12), Adriana (7), Kennedy (6), Leo (5), Lee (4), Reagan (2), and Lincoln (1 month). Terry was a proud supporter and treasurer for Friends of Arlington Parks, a volunteer group of private citizens who share an interest in preserving and extending the Arlington, VA public park system. He was also a very proud member of the motorcycle community, devoting the past decade to teaching and maintaining the Motorcycle Rider Training Program at NVCC. His dedication is captured in a message from Esther S. Parantoni, Director of the Design & Implementation Workforce Development Division at Northern Virginia Community College: "Terry has been with the college for years and we not only came to rely on his expertise and years of knowledge, we also came to love him as part of the NOVA family. We will miss him very much. And we want you to know how much he has set the standard for safety and expertise in our motorcycle program. He worked tirelessly, not only to provide the best program, but because he believed in the program and making a difference in people's lives. His loyally to serving others is exceptional. He would always step in to pick up a class when an instructor cancelled, and he was always there to ensure new instructors were on-boarded into the teaching realm. His loyalty put him through long hours and in all sorts of weather and he never complained. And his loyalty has undoubtedly saved the lives of hundreds of students who learned from him." A memorial fundraiser has been established to support Terry's family. The funds will help cover funeral expenses and basic needs to help them get through this difficult time.
