Thelma Harris Carlock, 87, died of cancer on April, 9 2011 at 10:07 PM. Mrs. Carlock was born in Washington D.C., but grew up in Arlington, VA. She graduated from Washington-Lee High School and attended business school to further her secretarial skills. She worked as a legal secretary for almost 10 years, retiring in 1950 to raise her family.
During WWII she volunteered at the Red Cross and served as a hostess of the USO located at the YWCA building in Washington D.C. Mrs Carlock enjoyed doing needlework and many hobbies, including rock-hounding with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Justin E. Carlock of 65 years, three children, Liane Carlock of Dumfries, VA, Douglas E. Carlock of Luray, VA, and Lori C. Coleman of Owings, MD and seven grandchildren.
Arrangements under the direction of National Funeral Home, Falls Church, VA. Burial to follow in National Memorial Park, Falls Church, VA.
