

Formerly of Rockville, MD, Tom passed away November 1, 2025, at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC. Born in Olean, NY, he was the son of William F. and Betty Washburn Litzenberger.
Tom was a graduate of Ten Broeck Academy in Franklinville, NY, and Erie County Technical Institute in Buffalo, NY. After graduating from High School, he worked as a telegrapher for the B & O Railroad and was a registered organ donor.
Tom was a professional saxophone player and an electrical engineer. He served in the U.S. Army as a Private First Class (PFC). Tom played saxophone for many years in the Rockville Concert Band. When he moved to Palmetto, he played in four concert bands and was the director of the Sun Coast Mummers. He was a member of the Orchestra of the First Baptist Church of Palmetto. He was a Mason of Lodge No. 143 in Chambersburg, PA, a member of VFW Post 2488 in Palmetto, FL, formed his own dance band playing at the VFW and a longtime member of The National Association of Watch & Clock Collectors. In 1984 he participated in the Olympic Torch Run from NY to CA as a radio operator providing communication for part of the route. Tom also enjoyed playing with his house bunnies.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Lyon Litzenberger, a son Stephen Litzenberger of Severn, MD, 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and a brother William F. (Diedre) Litzenberger Jr.
