Vincent Rocco Agnelli, 95, passed away on January 29, 2026 at his home in Gainesville, VA. That was exactly 53 years to the day that his beloved father died. Vince was born to Pasquale and Adeline Agnelli on July 29,1930 in South Plainfield, NJ. Along with his sisters, Fran and Gina, the family moved to Arlington, VA in 1949 where he met the love of his life, Marlean Padgett. They married in 1952 and shared 74 wonderful years together. While raising their two oldest of four children and working multiple jobs, Vince graduated from Catholic University in 1957. He worked as an Economist in the Bureau of Labor Statistics, US Department of Labor, retiring in 1981.
Vince valued love of Family above all else. He lived by the saying, “Family is everything. Everything else is just everything else.” Vince and Marlean were the very definition of Soulmates. He willed his physical being to stay far longer than a mere mortal man could attain just to be with his true love on this earthly plane. He and Marlean acted in harmony and always supported their children’s and grandchildren’s activities. He was so proud of every family member including siblings, nieces and nephews and selflessly offered help, comfort, laughter and advice when asked. Vince’s double Manhattans were legendary!
Supported by Marlean, Vince became involved in many civic and community activities. He was an AFGE Union representative and then a dedicated member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. Vince and Marlean supported their children’s schools from St. James to Falls Church High School to Lake Braddock Secondary School. In 1973, they were founding members of LBSS Athletic Booster Club. The 1970s were spent supporting the LBSS Bruins. Vince proudly joined the Knights of Columbus in 1972 and served in several Virginia councils throughout his life. He became a Sir Knight of the Order in 1998. Vince and Marlean were very active in several Virginia Catholic parishes including St. James in Falls Church, Holy Spirit in Annandale and Church of the Holy Family in Virginia Beach. As a big sports fan, he followed his beloved “bums” from Brooklyn even after they moved to Los Angeles. He later added the Redskins and the Nationals to his portfolio of teams. He was fiercely patriotic for his country that had afforded both himself and his family the freedom and opportunity to prosper.
He is survived by his wife, Marlean, children Patricia Reid (Ken), Valerie Bowman (Bob), Vincent Agnelli Jr (Debbie), Tony Agnelli (Laurie), grandchildren Rob Bowman (Andrea), Erin Powers, James Powers, Dominic Agnelli, Mia Agnelli (Chase McCullough), great grandchild Aly Bowman, and sister Gina Espenshade (John), many nieces, nephews and extended family members. A mass of the resurrection will be held on March 21, 2026, 10:30 am at Church of the Holy Family Catholic Church, 1279 N. Great Neck Rd., Virginia Beach, VA 23454.
