VIRGINIA B. CHAPLIN - On Saturday, June 18, 2022, of Leesburg, VA, formerly of Falls Church, VA. Beloved wife of Charles K. Chaplin (deceased); loving mother of Paul Jeffrey Chaplin (deceased), Charles Luke Chaplin and Karen Chaplin Killmeyer (David); devoted grandmother of Rachel Erin and Samuel Paul Killmeyer. Interment will be at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
Virginia was born in Hempstead, Long Island, New York on June 16, 1924 to Donald and Helen Bishop. After graduating from High School, she attended the Katharine Gibbs School and became a secretary. She then worked at Mitchel Air Force Base (Mitchel Field), Long Island, NY during World War II where she met her husband, Charles. They were married on December 9, 1945.
Virginia and Charles subsequently moved to Washington, D.C. where she worked on Capitol Hill for former Speaker of the House, Joseph Martin. She left government service to start a family, moving to the Virginia suburbs. Virginia had three (3) children, Paul, Luke and Karen and two (2) grandchildren, Rachel and Samuel. She and her husband were avid collectors of American Brilliant Period Cut Glass and members of the American Cut Glass Association. They enjoyed traveling to the many conventions over the years. She will be greatly missed by her family.
