

Wei Yan Li was born on March 26, 1936 in Fujian, China, the son of the late Ying Chi Li. Wei went off to the military to study to become an electrical technician straight from middle school. Wei was an electrical technician for 40 years.
Wei met his love when he was 21 year old and she was only 16. Wei married Qiu Chen on September 10, 1958 in Fuzhou, China. They had 54 beautiful years together.
He was preceded by his brother, Wei Qiu. Wei is survived by his wife, Qiu Chen; his brother, Wei Ming; his two daughters, Hong (Fu Guang Cai) and Janet (Chung Ming Cheng); his grandchildren, Lulu, Jaimie, Christopher, and Allan and his great grandson, Cameron. His legacy will live on through his family and his namesake will continue through his grandson, Allan Cheng Li.
Wei came to the United States awaiting the birth of Allan almost 15 years ago. Coming to Maryland, Wei had a language barrier but it did not prevent many to come to love him as their own. He always opened his arms and heart to everyone he meets. His smile was infectious and his kind soul touched many that he encountered.
Wei had many hobbies but what he enjoyed the most was playing Mahjong especially when he was winning against his wife. He and his wife also had a standing card game every day and many playful bantering can be heard from the room. Wei was into gardening and grew many delicious vegetables that he loved to share with everyone. On his spare time, he can be found watching any type of sports on the television. Wei remembered everyone’s favorite food and always made sure that they had it the moment they step in the door. Wei’s favorite phase was “Eat, Eat” and his voice will always echo in our hearts.
Wei lived a full and happy life filled with joy and laughter provided by his family and friends. Wei will truly be missed.
