
Wilbur R. Gray, “Gabby”, 81, passed away Friday, September 15, 2017, with family by his side. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Grace M. Gray; two children, Wilbur R. Gray, Jr. “Randy” and his wife, Jackie, of The Villages, FL, and Joanne Gray Bryant of Virginia Beach, VA; four grandchildren, Amanda Gray, Christopher Gray and his wife, Amanda, Dena Jaroszewski and her husband, Tommy, and Erin Bryant; one great-grandchild, “TJ” Jaroszewski; and two sisters, Linda Belt and Hazel Stempien. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Howard and Mae Gray, one brother, Howard Gray, Jr, and one sister, Marion Head.
He served his community as a proud member of the City of Falls Church Volunteer Fire Department and retired as a Battalion Chief for the Arlington County Fire Department after 28 years of faithful service. After retiring to Englewood, FL, he served with the Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 87, for 30 years. The fire department and coast guard were his passion and he dedicated his life to both. He will be remembered for his strength, determination, and unyielding commitment to the highest of standards in all that he did. He was a fighter for what he believed in and a champion to those he served.
Graveside Committal will be held Saturday, October 28th at 2pm.
