

Age 65
Bill passed away on April 27, 2015, at his Fall Church, VA, home, after a valiant battle against pancreatic cancer. An international trade lawyer for 30 years, Bill was affiliated with the Washington D.C. law firms of Miller and Chevalier and Foley and Lardner. He was international trade counsel at General Electric. He spent 20 years in the federal government, including service on the National Security Council Staff during the Clinton Administration. Bill’s favorite job was stay-at-home father. He enjoyed cooking, fine wine, foreign travel and living abroad with his family in support of his wife’s diplomatic service in Tunisia, Jerusalem and Canada. He was a graduate of Cornell University, Suffolk University Law School and the Georgetown University Law Center.
Bill is survived by his wife, Sue Saarnio; daughter Kathleen Clements; son William Clements; siblings James and wife Karen and Robert and wife Alba; Anne Miller; nieces and nephews Evan Clements and James, Daniel, Michael and Jennifer Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Dolores Clements.
