

Willis G. Owens, Jr., Of Falls Church, VA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 5, 2016 after a brief illness. Will was born in Norfolk, VA on May 1943. Being a child of an Air Force serviceman, he spent his childhood in Anchorage, AK; Alexandria and Arlington. VA. He graduated from Wakefield High School, Arlington, VA, attended college part-time until he was accepted into The Washington Post Mailers apprenticeship program. He worked there 40 years until retiring in 2003 and enjoyed reading The Post every day from front to back.
Will is survived by his wife, Linda; granddaughters, Ashlee Owens and Annika Godston; a sister, Patricia Eller (Tom); brothers, Steven Owens and Craig Owens (Lisa); sister-in-law, Brenda Archer (Kenneth); brother-in-laws, Gene Parker; Billy Parker (Cheryl); nieces, Wendy Pierce(Jimmy); Jenny Downs (Brian); Scarlet Floyd (Dennis); Angela Parker and nephew, Chad Parker (Meagan); 2 grandnieces and 4 grand nephews. He was preceded in death by their son Mark Owens; a brother Raymond Owens and parents Erma and Willis Owens, Sr.
Will doted on his granddaughters and enjoyed taking them on Disney cruises. He felt fortunate that he lived nearby and could see them often and watch them grow up.
He and Linda had been married 49 years and felt they knew each other so well that they often could tell what the other was thinking. Traveling was one of their favorite things to do. Will's love with the Outer Banks began when he visited his grandmother's family cottages in the summers along with his father's family. He loved going every Summer and Fall with family members, especially his granddaughters.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11am on November 19, 2016 at Murphy's Funeral Home-Falls Church. In lieu of flowers, a donation to The American Cancer Society or charity of your choice would be appreciated.
