Long time owner and executive chef of the Makoto restaurant on MacArthur Blvd., passed away at Fair Oaks INOVA hospital on September 3, 2013 of natural causes. Mr. Itoh is survived by his long time companion, Penpa Pongariyasub "Pam"; his two sons, Gene (wife, Hillary and children, Aiji, Alisia, and Yuuki) and Jessie (wife, Mia); and his daughter, Sandra Itoh. A private ceremony will be held to celebrate his life and honor his passing.
