March 23, 1932 – August 25, 2025
Carmen Munoz, age 93, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 23, 1932, in Rincón, Puerto Rico, to Juan Méndez and María de Jesús, Carmen lived a long life full of warmth, strength, and devotion to her family.
She was the beloved mother of Esther Munoz, and the late Eva Morales (passed in 2022) and Daniel (passed in 1988). Carmen was a proud and cherished abuela to Billy Morales, Josie McNally, Melissa Lauri, Yleana Roman, and Daniel Roman. She was also the adored abuelita of her great-grandchildren: Kai McNally, Luna McNally, Serena Morales, Julian Reeves-Roman, and Nayeli Reeves-Roman, each of whom brought her so much joy.
Carmen is survived by her dear sister Antonia Méndez and was predeceased by her siblings Baudilio, Guito, Chaba, Jesús, Mazo, Chila, and Chu Cruz. Her family ties ran deep, and she carried the memory of her siblings in her heart.
An animal lover through and through, Carmen had a special bond with her dogs—Duqui, Betty Boop, Gigi, and Princess. She also cherished the honorary pups in her life: Coco and Lucy (beloved companions of Eva), and Rambo (Melissa’s dog). These furry friends brought her endless happiness and were often treated to her delicious cooking, which she lovingly shared with both her family and her pets.
Carmen was known for her incredible talent in the kitchen. Her signature arroz con gandules were family favorite that will be remembered and missed at every gathering. Before her vision began to fade, she was an avid reader who found great pleasure in books and stories.
