Born in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of the late Philip Gaulin and Rose (née Ferraro) Gaulin, later Calderone. Cecilia spent her life throughout the Northeast, where she maintained a strong sense of self and routine, grounded in family and the rhythms of daily life. She had a strong will and a determined nature, traits she shared with her husband and admired in the generations of Italian women in her family, whose strength and perseverance helped shape who she was.
She was a devoted mother to her four sons, including one who required special care and whom she supported with steadfast commitment throughout his life. Her dedication to him was a defining part of who she was.
Returning to school later in life, Cecilia earned her associate’s degree in social work, an accomplishment she was proud of and one that reflected her desire to help others in need.
She enjoyed sewing, cooking large Italian multi-course meals, spending time with her grandchildren, and shopping. She also valued time spent talking with others and observing the world around her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Aliberti; her son, Bradley Aliberti; and her two brothers, Philip Gaulin III and August Calderone.
She is survived by her three sons, Joseph, Marc (Marcia), and Keith (Marta); and her four grandchildren, Marc, Christopher, Marina, and Dominic.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Arthur F. White Funeral Home of Farmingdale, New York. Interment will be held at Pinelawn Memorial Park and Arboretum, in the Gardens of Companions, 2030 Wellwood Avenue, Farmington, NY, on April 25 at 11:00 a.m.
