November 28, 1940 – July 9, 2025
Claire Morris flew to her heavenly home peacefully in her sleep at the age of 84, on July 9, 2025. Born on November 28, 1940, in Brooklyn, NY, Claire was a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. To know her was to know warmth, care, generosity, and a deep devotion to family and faith.
Claire was the proud mother of Peter (Claudia Pici) and Mary Ann (Eric Kaumheimer), and the loving wife of Peter Morris, who predeceased her. She’s now reunited in heaven with her parents, Mary and John Quinn; her brother, Thomas Quinn; her sister, Peggy Heavey; her niece, Cheryl Heavey-Febbie; and her nephew, Robert (Bobby) Heavey.
Education and her Catholic faith were cornerstones of Claire’s life. She made sure her children had the best Catholic education and cherished her time as a devoted member of the Rosary Society in her later years.
Claire earned both her undergraduate and master’s degrees in Human Services from Audrey Cohen College — a testament to her love of learning and her deep commitment to service.
Her career reflected her heart: she was a beloved day care director at La Puerta Abierta and Amistad Day Care Centers, ensuring children were well cared for, properly nourished, and given every opportunity to thrive. Later, as a public school teacher, Claire loved making a difference in the lives of the students she guided.
Outside of work, Claire was a wonderful hostess. She was famous for her autumn pumpkin patch parties and her beautiful gardens in Brooklyn and Pennsylvania. She was an amazing cook, a mah jong enthusiast, and a true New Yorker at heart who loved walking the Coney Island Boardwalk and strolling the scenic path along Gravesend Bay.
She also loved Broadway musicals and shows, and nights out in the city — always finding joy in life’s vibrant moments.
Claire is survived by her children, Peter and Mary Ann; her seven treasured grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, all of whom were blessed by her love, generosity, and care.
Her life will be honored with a viewing on Sunday, July 20, from 5:00–7:00 PM at Arthur F. White Funeral Home, 315 Conklin Street, Farmingdale, NY 11735. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 21, at St. Martin of Tours, 220 Central Ave, Bethpage, NY 11714, with burial to follow at St. Charles Cemetery 2015 Wellwood Avenue Farmingdale, NY 11735.
In every chapter of her life, Claire worked hard, gave generously, and loved deeply. Her legacy will live on in the family she raised, the children she taught, and the many lives she touched with her kindness.
