Eileen C. Fillinger

Eileen C. Joyce Fillinger of Plainview, NY, died on May 17, 2025, at the age of 89 after a courageous four-year battle with cancer. Born in Queens, NY on Aug. 14, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Helen Brogan Joyce and John Joyce and lived in Glendale, Queens. She is predeceased by her sister, Patricia Lang Pepe. Eileen graduated from Richmond Hill High School in 1953.

Eileen was married to Martin Fillinger on Jan. 30, 1965, in Broad Channel, NY, and they enjoyed 42 years of happiness together until Martin’s death in 2007. They resided in Bellerose, NY, before moving to Plainview, where she lived for 50 years.

Eileen worked for Nassau County BOCES as an office secretary for more than 20 years. She enjoyed spending summers at the Bethpage Community Pool, taking trips with senior groups, going on cruises, and traveling the world. She was a member of St. Pius X RC Church in Plainview and its Senior Club, the Ancient Order of Hibernians, and the Farmingdale Chapter of AARP. She took great pride in her Irish heritage and traveled to Ireland several times.

Eileen is survived by her three children: Sandra (Jim), Michael (Juliana), and Eric (Jenice); and her grandchildren, Marcus, Megan, Michael, Brian, Joseph, Addison, and Lincoln.  She was a loving mother and grandmother who greatly enjoyed following her grandchildren’s sports and activities.

Visitation will be at Arthur F. White Funeral Home, 234 Broadway, Bethpage, on May 19, 2025, 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial on May 20, 9:30 a.m., at St. Pius X RC Church, 1 St. Pius Ct X Court, Plainview. Burial will follow at Calverton National Cemetery.
