Gary Michael Raskin, 72, of Farmingdale, New York, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2025. Born on October 2, 1953, in Brooklyn, Gary lived a life marked by kindness, warmth, and an unwavering love for the people around him. He was a compassionate soul who wore his heart on his sleeve and was never hesitant to express what others meant to him.
A dedicated and accomplished media professional, Gary thrived in environments where he could connect with people. He was fortunate enough to work in roles that allowed him to use his people skills selling equipment he was passionate about - HD televisions for SONY and new technology for Apple.
Later in life, Gary discovered a passion for screenwriting, pouring his creativity into stories all his own. His screenplays earned several national awards, a testament to his talent and imagination. He had an eye and mind for film beyond his interest in screenwriting. Some would consider him a film connoisseur who could chat about actors, directors, and film history with the best of them. Don’t forget his musical knowledge, too. One could always find Gary noodling away on a guitar if one was lying around.
Above all else, Gary’s greatest pride and deepest devotion was his family. His “beautiful wife” Loretta was the center of his world. Every single day, he reminded her just how much he loved her, something he believed should never go unsaid. Gary taught those around him a powerful and enduring lesson. Tell the people you love that you love them often and mean it.
Gary is survived by his beloved wife, Loretta; his sister-in-law, Virginia; his brother-in-law, Vincent; his niece, Marissa; his nephew, Dominick; and his great-niece and great-nephew, Vida and David. His love, humor, and heartfelt presence will continue to live within them every day.
Visitation will be held at Arthur F. White Funeral Home, located at 315 Conklin Street, Farmingdale, NY 11735, on November 19, 2025, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm and from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
