Joan Rose Fliegel

Born at home in Corona Queens, she moved to Farmingdale in 1956 with her husband John, where they enjoyed 69 years of marriage until his passing in 2022. They welcomed 4 children, Walter (Rosaline), Susan (Tom), Karen (James) and Peg (Chris) and 5 grandchildren, Emily, Jimmy, Hannah, Leslie and Eric.

She is survived by her older brother, Arthur Boyce and her younger sister, Lorraine Strumer as well as many nieces and nephews.

A long-time practicing parishioner at St Kilian church, she was predominately a homemaker but also enjoyed 5 years of employment at Underwriters Laboratories and volunteered at a local Senior Citizen center.

Some of the joys in her life were a hot cup of tea, a good mystery novel and a pair of comfy slippers. Her quick wit and her sense of humor that she kept until the end will be missed by all.

Visitation will be held at Arthur F. White Funeral Home, located at 315 Conklin Street, Farmingdale, NY 11735, on November 14, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and again from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Kilian Parish, 485 Conklin St, Farmingdale, NY 11735, on November 15, 2025, from 10:45 am to 11:45 am.

Interment will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park and Arboretum, 2030 Wellwood Ave, Farmingdale, NY 11735, on November 15, 2025, from 12:15 pm to 12:45 pm.
