Barbuto, John F., 77, passed away September 26, 2023. Beloved wife of 32 years to Maria. Adored father of Amanda Larnaitis (Brandon). Cherished brother of Rose Russo (Joseph) and the late Richard Barbuto. Retired sanitation officer for the City of New York and the US Postal Service. John was an extremely hard worker and dedicated his life to providing for his family. John was affectionately known as “Johnny B.”, had a great sense of humor, and loved to make people laugh. Everyone who met him would be eating out of the palm of his hand with his witty comments and endless jokes. Throughout the years, John and his wife went to many Lead East shows in New Jersey, listening to dowhop music, and creating many memories together. John and his family always had fun, traveling around the Caribbean on cruise ships and sharing many laughs on their vacations in Delray Beach. His example of a perfect evening would be sitting outside, listening to 50’s and 60’s dowhop music, with a glass of Merlot in hand. John was very handy, which worked out for the better because he believed he could do the work himself, rather than hiring someone. He also took pride in making his own wine, which further proves his point that things are better when you do it yourself. A common phrase to describe him was “Johnny B. does what he wants, when he wants”. He was a huge Trump 2024 supporter, loving his country, watching Fox News, and collecting guns in support of his 2ndAmendment rights. Johnny always looked forward to Sunday macaroni and watching football with his family, even though it was usually aggravating because he was a huge Jets fan. He was the epitome of a “car guy”, being a member of the Long Island Corvette Owners Association, enjoying car shows, and most importantly taking out his red 2019 Corvette Stingray. Johnny’s charismatic personality and ability to make everyone laugh will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. The family will receive visitors Thursday, September 28th, 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Arthur F. White Funeral Home, Inc., 234 Broadway, Bethpage. Funeral Mass Friday, September 29th, 10 am at St. Martin of Tours RC Church. Entombment following at Pinelawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in John’s memory to the National Kidney Foundation; Kidney.org.
