

Marjorie “Marge” Duffy, née Daly, 97, former resident of Farmingdale, passed away on April 24, 2024, at home, which was her wish. Born and raised in New York City she was the fifth of eight children of James and Ellen Josephine Daly. She enjoyed life in a large Irish family on the Upper West Side, graduated from Cathedral High School and married Edward Duffy in 1948. After moving to the Midwest for her husband’s career, they eventually settled in Farmingdale, NY, to be near family. Marge was successful in the business world retiring to Boynton Beach, Florida where she lived for more than 30 years. She was fortunate to make lasting friendships in her new home but always looked forward to visits from her family. Marjorie is predeceased by her parents, James and Ellen Daly (nee Sheehan), her husband, Edward, and her siblings, Anne Malloy, Michael Daly, Josephine Heineman, Mary “Dolly” Tiernan, John Daly, Veronica “Babs” Hanniford and her dear friend, Mitchell “Mitch” Skorupski. She is survived by her sister and friend, Florence McCormack (the late Vincent) and family: Vincent McCormack (Maureen B.), Joan Whitman (the late Mickey), Maureen McCormack, Christine Silverstein (Ira) and many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and nephews and great-grandnieces and nephews. Marge is remembered for her devotion to family, love of travel, crossword puzzles, the beach and her independent and feisty nature. Her family is thankful to all her friends and neighbors who enriched her life and for the loving care they provided to her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Kilian RC Church, Friday, June 14, 2024 at 11 am. Interment following at Long Island National Cemetery.
