Born in Woodside, Queens, she lived in Farmingdale for almost fifty years. Mary was the daughter of Patrick and Beatrice Kenny, who predeceased her. She was also predeceased by her husband, Chester Thomas, her sister Katleen, and her brothers, Jack, Patrick, and Thomas. She is survived by daughter Christine, son Patrick (Marie), and beloved grandchildren Erin and Colin, along with a plethora of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nephews.
Mary retired from the Postal Service. She was a devoted Catholic, active in St Killian’s Parish, attending daily mass as long as she was able to drive. She gave to many charities.
Mary was noted for her kindness and compassion for others. Rarely did she not have a good word or compliment for everyone she met.
A wake will be held on Friday September 18, 2026 at White’s Funeral Home, 315 Conklin St, Farmingdale, NY 11735 from 4-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Kilian Roman Catholic Church, 485 Conklin St., Farmingdale, NY 11735. Burial will be Monday, September 21, 2026 at Calverton National Cemetery, 210 Princeton Blvd, Calverton, NY 11933.
Mary’s legacy of love and kindness lives on in all those lucky enough to know her.
