

Mori was born on September 21, 1943, in Tehran, Iran, to Zahra Heidari and Hassan Karimi Zahraie. His father, Hassan, was a sergeant in the military, a role that provided the family the opportunity to live in and experience many different places throughout Mori’s early life.
Mori attended the prestigious University of Tehran, where he earned degrees in Political Science and Constitutional Law. During his studies, he taught English to support himself, reflecting his strong work ethic and dedication to education. While completing his university studies, he met the love of his life, Masoumeh “ Shamsi” Hamzeh. The two were married in 1971 and built a life grounded in partnership, devotion, and shared values.
Mori and Shamsi were blessed with three children: Pantea, Kasra, and Parsa. In 1984, the family immigrated to the United States, settling on Long Island, New York, where Mori lived for the remainder of his life.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Shamsi ; his daughter, Pantea and her husband Robert Thompson; his son, Kasra and his wife, Mojgan Bandari; and his son, Parsa and his wife, Britt Cumiskey. He was a proud and loving grandfather to five cherished grandchildren: Mason, Jackson, Kayla, Shayna, and Charlotte.
Mori will be remembered for his intellect, perseverance, dedication to family, and the sacrifices he made to provide opportunity and stability for those he loved. He will be eternally missed and forever held in the hearts of his family and all who knew him.
A visitation will occur Saturday, February 21, 2026 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Arthur F. White Funeral Home, 315 Conklin Street, Farmingdale, NY 11735. An interment for Morteza will be held Saturday, February 21, 2026 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM, NY at Melville Cemetery, Melville, NY.
