

OAK HILL – Betty L. Maples, of Oak Hill, was reunited with the love of her life, Elwood, on March 19, 2016, following a short illness.
Born on July 3, 1931, in Romont, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Russie McClung Skaggs.
Other than her husband and parents, Betty was preceded in death by sisters Inez Foster and Glenna Kesler.
Betty was a proud graduate of Ansted High School, Class of 1950, and last worked for Isratex, in Rainelle, WV. She was a member of Gatewood Baptist Church and a former member of the LaFayette Post 149 American Legion Auxiliary. Betty enjoyed sewing, collecting antiques, gardening and most of all she love spending time with her family and friends. Another of her favorite things was when her siblings would gather at her house. There would always be good food and laughter in abundance.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son Ed (Monica) of Knoxville, TN; daughters Sue (Melvin) Smith and Joetta Maples, both of Fayetteville; grandchildren: Chuck (Crissy) Maples of Knoxville, TN, Tim (Kim) Maples of Princeton, WV, Stephanie (Donald) Swim of Princeton, WV, Nicholas Dildy and Evan Maples of Knoxville, TN, and Jessica (Chris Young) Hames of Fayetteville, WV; great-grandchildren, Jordyn Maples, LeeAnn Maples, Anthony Meadows, Wyatt Meadows, Faith Adkins, Amber Swim, and Courtney Swim, all of Princeton, WV, Kalila and Delaney Hames of Fayetteville, WV; sisters, Jean Delp of Green Cove Springs, FL, and Marilene Bibb of Ansted, WV; brothers, Mercel (Kay) Skaggs of Leesburg, VA, Ralph Skaggs of McDonough, GA, and Rod (Joan) Skaggs of Claremont, NC, along with a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be 11 AM on Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with Pastors Harry Fuller and Monty Foster officiating. Burial will follow at Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
