Born and raised in Fayetteville, West Virginia, she was a proud daughter of a coal miner and a homemaker. It was there she met and married the love of her life, Richard Wilson, her beloved husband of 62 years.

Following their years in D.C. they made the decision to move to Woodsfield, Ohio, where she worked as an assistant for the law firm of Alan Sherry while raising their two young daughters. In 1978 she accepted a position as the assistant to the Senior Vice President of American Electric Power until her retirement in 1992.
Betty was a kind-hearted and compassionate woman who was welcoming to all. She truly never met a stranger and was quick to engage all she encountered in friendly conversation.
