Nearly 43 years ago Charlie and Joyce agreed to become our son's godparents. All of his growing up years he kept in close contact with them and we all consider them family. Chuck and Stephen also became family and we kept in touch.
Never have I seen anyone give so much of themselves as they did and were always there with a kind word and that ready smile. It was such a joy being a part of their lives as well as having them in ours.
Heaven has truly gained another angel and I'm sure God has found a position for him to fill up there. My grandfather always told us that "when we lose someone we love we just gain another angel we know".
Our prayers and love are with the family..........Chuck and Steve please know we love you and grieve with you during this time. May God encourage you and help you to keep his memory alive with all the good things you do for others.
Much love.

When I was just a little girl my mother worked at a diner in Clendenin and would catch the bus every morning really early. Mr. Payne would drive down the road every day and one morning he stopped to ask my mother if she would like a ride because he had seen her standing out there and figured that she was waiting on the bus. He told her that Clendenin was where he was going and he would be happy to give her a ride to work.
Mom told him that would be fine but some mornings if she would be running late she would leave the porch light on so he would know that he would be out shortly. Mr. Payne was a very kind hearted person and my mother was glad to have met him. In 1971 my family moved from Michigan and built a house on Nickelville Road and my mother lived next door to us. Every time we would come in contact with Mr. Payne mom would tell me the story over and over. He made a big impact on our family. We had to find a church so we started to Fayetteville Church of God and Mr. Payne was our beloved teacher. He will never be forgotten by us and many others who knew him and how kind he was to everyone. I just wanted his family to know how much our family appreciated what he had done for our mother but how kind and considerate he was to everyone that he came in contact with. He is one who will never be forgotten by many because of his kindness to all that he met. Dear Charles may you Rest in Peace. Prayers for his family at this time and ask God to be with them, God Bless.
