Frances Louise Lee Smith

Frances Louise Smith, 94, formerly of Fayetteville, passed away Thursday, March 9, 2017 at Bowers Hospice House, Beckley, following an extended illness. Born on August 16, 1922 at Singers Glen, VA, the daughter of the late Claude Elmore Lee and Dillie Lee Oliver Lee. Frances was a 1941 graduate of Fayetteville High School. She was a member of Eau Gallie Baptist Church in Florida where she had served as the financial secretary. She was a former secretary for the Fayette County Health Department and later worked for the state health department. While in Florida, Frances catered wedding receptions. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Smith; brothers, Harry Lee and Buddy Lee; and her sister, Susan Summerfield. Left to cherish many wonderful memories, are her sister, Evelyn Estep of Fayetteville; niece, Belinda Thomas of Houston, TX; and nephew, Claude Lee III and wife, Sharon of Vienna, WV. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Fayetteville Baptist Church with Rev. David Sneed officiating. Burial will follow at Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville. The family will receive friends from 11 am to 12 noon at the church on Saturday.
