When we had our first child while living in Maryland, Joan volunteered to babysit for us while we worked. She was wonderful and so caring and helpful. She has always had a special place in our hearts. We are so sad for your loss. She will truly be missed.

Joan was a good friend and always had a smile and kind word for those she touched. I remember fun times at Fayetteville High School with her and Larry and the visits we shared in later years. Darrell Swanigan

Joan was not only my sister in law but truly my friend. We had a relationship like no other. We have spent countless hours together. She and Larry were always there for my boys. And after Larry's passing Joan never changed, she was always there for me and my family. When I was blessed to come visit WV her home was always open. Sometime she and I would not even leave the hill. We talked often and I will miss her more than mere words could ever express.

I promise you dear one that I will continue to be there for your children and grandchildren as you know that I love them as my own. So rest in HIS presence as heaven is even a better place with you there!

Love Always

Aunt Joan is the epitome of what an Aunt should be. Her home was always open and you knew you were welcome. She always had time for you. We would go and swim and no matter what she took time out and sat and talked always. She always answered my call and would talk for as long as we needed to. Being a young wife/mother I needed it!
She is an example to all of us and to quote Joseph and Garrett “There is no better day than Aunt Joan’s pool.”
