It still doesn’t seem possible that sweet soul has gained her wings. I’m so sorry I wasn’t able to be there but rest assured I was in spirit. Our family was so much richer with her in it. She was one in a million and I’ll never forget all she did. Godspeed, precious lady.

Doc, I am very sorry about the loss of your Mother. It’s hard to find words to express sorrow when someone is going through one of the saddest, hurtful, and most unbearable things that they will ever go through, try to think of all the good memories every day and know that you can see her again someday. God bless you and your family.

I am so sorry for your loss, Shawn and Roger. Your mother was such a kind presence at Tri-State as I was growing up. I know you will miss her. Praying for you all.

I think I may have met Juanita at her son's defense of his Master's Thesis. At any rate, I don't have a distinct memory of her, but she certainly did a marvelous job with Shawn. He is one of the very best English students I ever taught, and he has gone on to achieve great things in the field. I am sorry for Shawn's loss, but it is clear that she lives on in the many talents and abilities of her son.

I only met Juanita once. I got to meet her thanks to being a student to her son, Shawn at Alice Lloyd College. Shawn or "Doc" as he is known to many of us is the best man I've ever known. In sad times like these, we look back at the good times and overall legacy people leave behind when they depart this earth. I went from being a student of his to a friend of his and I can say that Juanita was a great mother, who raised a wonderful man alongside Sam.

Thanks to her raising him, I had a chance to meet a man that I would think of as a father/older brother figure and someone I love a great deal. My condolences to all those effected by this sad loss. While I only met her that one time, in that time I realized where Doc got his kindness, grace and class from. Rest in peace, Juanita.
