On Friday, December 8, 2017, Marion Elizabeth Poore Jackson, 86, of South Charleston, formerly of Fayetteville, WV left her earthly bonds and joined her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for eternity. She was born in Fayetteville, WV on November 25, 1931 to Clinton Lee and Lena Pearl Poore.

Marion was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Daisy Crowe Poore; husband, Willis H. Jackson; brother, Lesley Stuart; two sisters, Elizabeth Wright and Gail Staunton; and granddaughter, Alysha Jene Poore.

Marion received her public education in Fayette County, and graduated from DuBoise High School in Mt. Hope. She worked as a nurse aide and as a domestic worker. She attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church and Second Baptist Church in Fayetteville, and enjoyed visiting other churches, as well. After moving to South Charleston, she attended Bible Center Church until her health declined. She was known for her pleasant smile and her gentle spirit.

Those left to cherish her memories are her brothers, William (Sarah) Poore of Charlotte, NC and Clarence (Danita) Poore of Norfolk, VA; sisters, Clara Poore and Claudia Davis of Oak Hill and Lena (Wilbur) Lewis of Ansted; son, Thomas (Joycelyn Jones); daughters, Gwendolyn (John) Lovett of South Charleston and Ernestine (James III) Ford of Orlando, FL; grandchildren, Andrea (Darius Bass) Poore of Charlotte, NC; Orin (Kelly Bush) Lovett of Charleston, and Crystal Lovett of South Charleston; five great-grandchildren; Brendan, Jordan, and Owen Lovett; Lauren and Quentin Bass; daughter-in-heart, Shelia Hosey, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Services will be held on Tuesday, December 12, 2017, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 8687 Gatewood Road, Fayetteville, WV 25840. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am and homegoing service at 12:00 noon. Burial will be at Huse Memorial Park and Mausoleum, 124 Park Drive in Fayetteville, followed by repass back at the church. Services are entrusted to Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home in Fayetteville.
