Richard aka “chainsaw”to many was born in Montgomery, WV on June 14, 1954 to Phyllis and Milburn Reed.
Richard is well known in the area for his work at his gravel delivery company, the hay he put up each year, helping at his parents green houses, farm work, and houses him and Stan Kiser renovated together.
He attended Nuttall HS and had a full ride college scholarship for engineering and used his engineering mind for innovative ideas to fix problems for his businesses and to help others. He was generally known to be a man you could rely on, trust, ask for help and was well thought of.
He liked to race cars when he was younger, worked at his grandfathers sawmill, worked on road projects, such as the turnpike and beckley airport and much more. He hauled coal for years. He could operate almost any piece of equipment.
He loved the Steelers, WVU sports and NASCAR. He loved to drive fast and have fun. He was an avid fisherman, outdoorsman and truly loved his home state of West Virginia- thought it was heaven on earth. Him and his wife could often be found primitive camping, going on woodland trails, and enjoying the rivers and lakes in the area.
Richard will be dearly missed and leaves an aching hole in hearts of his wife, family, friends, and animals. He was preceded in death by his parents, Orval Milburn Reed and Phyllis Ann Reed, his brother Mitch and sister Julie.
