In the early morning hours of December 26, 2021, Robert Castle, USMC veteran, joined the heavenly Band of Brothers. Born in Longacre, WV, Robert was the son of Reva Castle and Allen "Depot" Castle. As a young man Robert was handsome, talented, mischievous, and well-liked. He enlisted in the military and served in Vietnam with the 3rd Battalion, 26th Marine Regiment. He was the father to three daughters: Tawni Castle, Spencer, WV; Heather Ruckman, Mt. Nebo, WV; and Sarah Castle, Princeton, WV. Robert’s passions included the WVU Mountaineers, the Corps, and motorcycles. His faith combined with his love for Harley-Davidson motorcycles called him to join His Laboring Few Biker Ministry based in Thomasville, NC. Over a decade ago Robert entered the Beckley VA hospital as a resident in the Community Living Center where he regularly serenaded his fellow veterans. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Roger and Raymond. He is survived by his three daughters, seven grandchildren, and his sister, Carol Sullivan of Fayetteville.
Thank you to the staff of the VA Medical Center in Beckley for the care and compassion extended to Robert throughout his years of residency at the facility. A service for Robert will be held at a later date. Semper Fi, Marine!
