OBITUARY

William "Billy" Ray Fitzwater Jr.

November 14, 1981November 2, 2020

William “Billy Ray” or “Billy” Ray Fitzwater, Jr’s spirit was called out of his earthly body by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was welcomed into Heaven, by a host of angels, family, and friends.

Billy was born on Saturday, November 14, 1981 at 11:30 pm at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital in Beckley, West Virginia. He was their first born son. His proud parents are Bill and Dorinda (Avis) Fitzwater of Fayetteville, West Virginia.

He is preceded in death by both sets of grandparents, O.T. and Virginia Fitzwater and Edward and Eckie Avis all of Fayetteville, West Virginia.

Billy started school in Mt. Airy, North Carolina. When he was in 6th grade, his family moved back home to West Virginia. He went all the way to the 12th grade at Oak Hill High School. With only four electives left, he decided to quit school. This was one of his biggest regrets as he got older.

Billy was a very friendly “people person”. He had a very big heart and would give you his last few dollars if he thought you needed it. He was also a “Momma’s Boy” and was proud to tell you so.

A year ago Billy, Stacy, and Hayleigh had started going to church. He accepted Jesus as his personal Savior. Billy turned his whole life around. Later he was baptized by his dad, Bill and Bobby Adkins at Daystar Worship Center. He never lost his faith throughout these past difficult months.

Billy had fought a long and courageous battle for 25 years with Crohn’s disease. Since June 15, he had six surgeries involving a bowel resection. He had struggled with this for three months. He passed away at CAMC early Monday morning on November 2nd.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his parents, Bill and Dorinda (Avis) Fitzwater; his wife of 15 years, Stacy (Maynor) Fitzwater; a son, Dakota Fitzwater; a daughter, Hayleigh Fitzwater of Oak Hill; his mother-in-law, Mary Maynor, who resides with them. Billy has a younger brother Chris Fitzwater (Christina); niece, Morgan; and nephew, Greyson Fitzwater from North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He also had a younger sister, Jessica Fitzwater; nephew, Landon; and niece, Serenity Hartwell of Oak Hill.

Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with Pastor Larry Humphrey officiating. Burial will follow at Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville.
