Alexander M. Hill, 90, of Palm Coast passed away on October 3, 2021. Beloved husband of Angela (Kickham) and the late Carrie (McDonnell) of Cork, Ireland. Preceding in death by his brother Fr. Ted Hill of Ireland. Survivors include his wife Angela, much loved daughters, Marie, Valerie and Michele, grandchildren Eoghan and Carrie Mooney, sister Mary (Kavanagh) Douglas, brother Finbar Hill, step-children, Thelxi (Gladstone), Charles and Christopher Kickham, nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, relatives, and friends.
Alex was a gracious, charismatic, graceful, kind, thoughtful, charming, and generous man who left an indelible impression with everyone he met. Born in Ireland and relocating to America at 56, Alex loved his home country, though embraced his new home. Alex saw the best in people and brought out the best in them. He commanded a room and brought smiles to people when he entered. Alex’s rich baritone, Irish accented, operatic voice would catch peoples’ attention and instill quietness as they listened. At any moment, Alex could summon songs of leading operas as well as those of Irish folk songs and poetry, recite the flowing narrative of a merry story, or add poignant yet humorous commentary on the day’s events. A firm, righteous, and disciplined man, Alex’s keen and sharp business sense matched the generosity he showered on his family and those close to him. In these contexts, and many others that can’t be mustered at this time, Alex will be greatly missed. A man of a time.
Cremation arrangements entrusted to Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home, Flagler Beach. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Lourdes in Cork, Ireland at a later date.
