

Arturo Landa Menéndez, 85, of Palm Coast, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on May 17, 2024, at AdventHealth Palm Coast. He was born on May 7, 1939, in Havana, Cuba, to the late Luis Landa Romero and Alicia Menéndez.
As a young adult, Arturo immigrated to the United States, settling in Puerto Rico where he spent many years building a life. In 2008, he and his beloved wife Nelly Martinez de Landa moved to Palm Coast, Florida. Arturo was a man of many passions; he enjoyed gardening, being close to nature, sport cars and he was well-known for his tinkering skills, always finding joy in obtaining, fixing, and creating gadgets.
Arturo was preceded in death by his wife Nelly in 2020, his brother Luis Landa Menéndez, and his niece, Maria Julia Bermudez Landa. He is survived by his sister in-law, Carmela Landa Velasco, and his cousin Teresa Maria Cruz. Arturo is also survived by his nephew, Luis Alberto Landa Velasco and his wife Kathleen Landa Franceschi, and their children, Luis Alberto Landa Franceschi, Gabriel José Landa Franceschi, Sabrina Maria Landa Franceschi, Michael Landa Franceschi. Arturo is also survived by his nephew Juan Carlos Landa Velasco and his wife Erin Landa Cleary, and their child, Ana Maria Landa Cleary. Arturo is also survived by his nephew-in-law, Jose Antonio Bermudez, and his children, Jose Antonio Bermudez Landa, Paulina Maria Bermudez Landa, Jorge Luis Bermudez Landa. Arturo also leaves behind many relatives and friends who will cherish his memory. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at a later date.
Arturo’s life could be the script to a great movie. His heroic actions brought freedom to the Landa family, and for that, the family will be forever indebted to him. Arturo's humble and kind spirit, love for life, and the joy he brought to his family and his beloved friends will be dearly missed. The family wishes to thank Arturo’s friends at his parish, who humbly brought him Holy Communion twice a week, sometimes at great effort and distances! We also like to thank Arturo’s neighbors for their loyal friendship and sincere care. Finally, we would like to thank the friends that Arturo made at Adventhealth and Flagler Rehab. May God repay all of you handsomely for your generous and charitable actions toward Arturo.

Arturo emigró a los Estados Unidos cuando era joven, estableciéndose en Puerto Rico donde pasó muchos años construyendo una vida. En 2008, él y su amada esposa Nelly Martínez de Landa se mudaron a Palm Coast, Florida. Arturo era un hombre de muchas pasiones; Le gustaba la jardinería, estar cerca de la naturaleza, los autos deportivos y era conocido por sus habilidades para arreglar cosas, siempre encontraba alegría al obtener, arreglar y crear aparatos y dispositivos.
A Arturo le precedieron en la muerte su esposa Nelly en 2020, su hermano Luis Landa Menéndez y su sobrina, María Julia Bermúdez Landa. Le sobreviven su cuñada Carmela Landa Velasco y su prima Teresa María Cruz. A Arturo también le sobreviven su sobrino, Luis Alberto Landa Velasco y su esposa Kathleen Landa Franceschi, y sus hijos, Luis Alberto Landa Franceschi, Gabriel José Landa Franceschi, Sabrina María Landa Franceschi, Michael Landa Franceschi. A Arturo también le sobreviven su sobrino Juan Carlos Landa Velasco y su esposa Erin Landa Cleary, y su hija, Ana María Landa Cleary. A Arturo también le sobreviven su sobrino político, José Antonio Bermúdez, y sus hijos, José Antonio Bermúdez Landa, Paulina María Bermúdez Landa, Jorge Luis Bermúdez Landa. Arturo también deja atrás a muchos familiares y amigos que apreciarán su memoria. Una Misa fúnebre se celebrará más adelante.
La vida de Arturo podría ser el guión de una gran película. Sus acciones heroicas trajeron libertad a la familia Landa y, por eso, la familia estará siempre endeudada con él. Extrañaremos profundamente el espíritu humilde y amable de Arturo, su amor por la vida y la alegría que trajo a su familia y a sus queridos amigos. La familia desea agradecer a los amigos de Arturo en su parroquia, quienes humildemente le llevaban la Sagrada Comunión dos veces por semana, ¡a veces con mucho esfuerzo y manejando largas distancias! También nos gustaría agradecer a los vecinos de Arturo por su leal amistad y sincero cuidado. Finalmente, nos gustaría agradecer a los amigos que Arturo hizo en Adventhealth y Flagler Rehab. Que Dios les pague generosamente a todos por sus acciones caritativas y generosas con Arturo.
