Betty Jo was born in Ocala, Fl on May 25, 1942 to her parents Robert Buey Revels and Georgia Elizabeth Sutton Revels. Shortly thereafter they moved to Daytona Beach, Fl where she was raised. As a young adult she moved to Bunnell where she graduated from Bunnell High School in 1960. She continued her education and received her Bachelors degree from Daytona State. She met her husband Marvin Strickland after seeing him singing in the church choir and they were married on September 22, 1962 at the First Baptist Church of Bunnell.
Betty Jo was known for her titles as Miss Flagler County, Miss Model T. Ford, and Miss Birthplace of Speed. She was not only known for her beauty, but also for her intelligence. She was a top realtor for many years and a successful business owner of the boutique Down By The Sea in Flagler Beach, Fl. She had a love for many different things, evident in the variety of items she sold in her store. She had exquisite taste for all things, enjoyed working in her yard, flowers and baking. She was a great cook and made the holidays, especially Christmas, Thanksgiving, and the 4th of July memorable with great food, music, and hosting. Photography of nature and people was a hobby of hers as was walking on the beach. Her trips to the mountains were filled with shopping and staying at all the bed and breakfast places she could find. She enjoyed singing and was a member of the church choir for many years. Genealogy was a passion of hers, which she spent many days, nights and years working on. Reading was the hobby she enjoyed the most.
