For more than two decades, he worked in the dairy processing industry designing and selling evaporators and dryers before launching his own engineering firm. He is described by his colleagues as a brilliant technical engineer. For more than 20 years, Bjärekull lived in Maryland with Tina Bjärekull, his wife of 35 years. Bo Bjärekull enjoyed an active life with several hobbies and special interests. In his younger years, he skydived, completing more than 100 jumps and participating in numerous free-fall formations. He enjoyed jogging, water sports, skiing, opera, cooking, and croquet. Bjärekull was a history buff and appreciated many music genres. His eclectic music play lists were famous among family and friends. The family will also hold a celebration of life in Menomonie, Wisconsin at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lyckeby Gille, a small museum in Lyckeby, Sweden, or to Doctors Without Borders.
