Duane Armas Nieminen, of Palm Coast, entered into rest on July 2, 2020. He was born to Armas and Helen Nieminen on January 22, 1931 in Ashtabula, Ohio. A disabled veteran, Duane had served in the Army during the Korean War. He worked for General Motors as a robotic electrician. He was an avid sports fan and cheered on the Cleveland Indians and the Cleveland Browns wholeheartedly.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Krista Nieminen, who passed away in 1983 at the age of 6 years old. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Sheralyn Nieminen. He is further survived by his son Duane Armas Nieminen, Jr. of Michigan, step-daughter Lori Robinson, of Michigan, step-daughter Kelley (Shawn) Drossart of Michigan, grandson, Devin Blatchly of Jacksonville, Florida, sister, Clare Nieminen of Ohio, and brothers, Allen (Jan) Nieminen of Mississippi and Drew (Sherry) Nieminen of Ohio. There will be a private service at Jacksonville National Cemetery, Wednesday, July 15, 2020 and a Memorial Service on Friday, July 17, 2020 at 11:00 am at Voyage Church, 204 Moody Blvd, Flagler Beach, FL, 32136 with a luncheon to follow . Arrangements are made in the care of Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home.
